Free School Meal Application

We want to make sure that all students at BOA who are entitled to free school meals receive them.

Free school meals are available to students whose parents/carers receive one or more of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit (provided household annual net earned income is no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of the most recent assessment periods);

  • Income Support;

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance;

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance;

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;

  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit;

  • Child Tax Credit (provided the household is not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and has an annual gross income of no more than £16,190);

  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for four weeks of no longer qualifying for Working Tax Credit.

If you believe your child to be eligible for free school meals, please apply here.

Students who have been established as qualifying for free school meals through the online application system will be able to receive a daily discount on their purchases at the canteen.

If you encounter any problems with the online application system, or have any questions regarding the application process or your child's eligibility, please contact Dr S May (Assistant Principal): simon.may@boa-academy.co.uk.

Important notes:

  • If your child is due to join BOA in September 2025 and you believe them to be eligible, an online application will need to have been made for us to ensure that free school meals can be provided from the start of term.

  • If your child is not currently eligible for free school meals but they have been eligible to receive them at some point since 1 April 2018, they can continue to receive free school meals until the end of the 2025/26 academic year, regardless of any subsequent change in household circumstances, including where earnings have risen above the eligibility threshold. If these circumstances apply to your child, please email Dr S May (Assistant Principal): simon.may@boa-academy.co.uk.
