DAN GUEST

DAN GUEST

When Dan started the Broadcast course at BOA in 2011 he had some knowledge of sound, with a background in DJing, but little experience in Radio.

Dan found the course at BOA very interesting because it gave him an opportunity to develop his technical understanding of setting up a radio station and allowed him to connect with various industry professionals from BBC Radio and Signal 107 through the BOA network.

The course appealed to Dan because it gave him the chance to learn in a way that suited his style of learning and through working with professional organisations he developed a range of professional skills, knowledge and experience.

Although Dan was focussed on radio, the course equipped him with transferable skills that can be utilised in other areas within the media sector.

Since leaving BOA, Dan has been employed as a B2 Radio Engineer and is now working with UKRD.

Where are you now?

Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance studying for a BA (Hons.) Ballet & Contemporary Dance.

What you enjoyed about BOA?

I think one of the most enjoyable aspects of BOA would be the creative energy of the school; I personally mixed with all pathways and this opened up so many opportunities for me. BOA is such a special place, the hard work and talent I have been surrounded by for the last two years has really pushed me to the best that I can be.

What your favourite style of dance is?

My favourite style of dance would be contemporary, I found this style later on in my dance training and I definitely know that this is the way I have and will continue to express myself in the art form I am pursuing.

What have you done to prepare for transferring to Rambert?

I began private ballet classes with a Birmingham Royal Ballet teacher, the intensity of these lessons have taken me to that next level that will fully prepare me for full time training, I also attend Pro class at the DanceXchange every Thursday morning; an open class for dancers already in training or professional, I have been going to these classes to take me out of my comfort zone to really get me ready for the outstanding level Rambert is going to offer me.

What are you excited about doing at Rambert?

I’m excited to get the intense training that Rambert will offer me, being taught by some of the world’s leading teachers and choreographers, I am ecstatic to be given this opportunity. Most of all I want to bring my own flair and individuality creatively to the school, something that I hope will be quite refreshing to their renowned standard.

Future ambition?

To successfully complete my training at Rambert, gaining a 1st class degree. I aspire to be an exceptional dance artist, hopefully become part of a renowned contemporary dance company that will give me the opportunity of touring the world.

Personal thanks to….

All of the BOA Dance Pathway Faculty from both my first and second year at the academy.

WILLIAM GLADSTONE

Will began his apprenticeship with ITV in September 2016 after leaving BOA’s Broadcast pathway with a D*D*D* grade. As this was the only apprenticeship available at ITV, the competition was high but William’s experience and knowledge of the broadcast industry allowed him to succeed and he began working at the London studios.
