Results are excellent with 95% of KS4 students achieving Grade 4 and above in GCSE English Language, 89% achieving Grade 5 and above and 22% achieving Grade 7 and above. A-Level English Literature is a popular additional subject at Post-16 at BOA, with 81% of students achieving Grade C and above in 2025.

The department is experienced and supportive of teachers and students alike. We are ambitious for our students and work collaboratively to ensure all learners are passionate about the subject and achieve well. The English Department benefits from dedicated and centralised teaching rooms and a spacious work area.
