Personal Development and Progression (Information, Advice and Guidance)

Students receive advice on progression to further or higher education through the Progressions team, and students can book individual appointments with an IAG advisor. Lessons on progression routes are delivered through the pathway specialisms due to the vocational nature of these courses.

We develop our students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness through a series of workshops that take place on specific dates outlined in the Academy calendar. During these workshops we also focus on citizenship and preparing students for life beyond BOA when they will become a working adult in modern Britain. Students are also immersed in a 45 minute personal development lesson which continues this work and ensures that students receive regular contact and target setting opportunities with their tutors.

GCSE English and GCSE Maths
Students who did not obtain a grade C in either their GCSE English or GCSE Maths will continue to receive provision in these subjects at Post 16. GCSE English and GCSE Maths are delivered on 3 hours of lessons per week (per subject) to ensure that students obtain a grade C (if studying the old specification) or a grade 4 (if studying the new specification) or above in their core subjects.
