How do I apply?

You can browse through our prospectus online on our website www.boa-academy.co.uk and print off an application form. Alternatively you can contact us and leave us your details, either by phone on 0121 359 9300 or by email at info@boa-academy.co.uk and a prospectus (application form included) will be sent out to you.

How do I get to become a student at BOA?

After submitting your application form you will be invited to an aptitude workshop. The results of the aptitude workshop will determine if you've successfully become a student at BOA.

What is an aptitude workshop?

An aptitude workshop is similar to a normal practical lesson in your chosen pathway (the subject area you are interested in). It's led by BOA staff who will guide you through a series of activities to see how you get on with a BOA style lesson. It does not require any preparation and should be a positive and enjoyable experience!

Are there any other additional subjects?

Yes - BOA offers A Level options which run alongside the main specialist vocational qualifications. BOA also offers additional BTEC units.

Who are the teachers?

The teachers are made up of experienced vocational and academic teachers and industry practitioners who come to the academy through one of the many industry partners who support BOA. Staff will work in specialist teams to make sure you get the best of both worlds.

Why should I come to BOA?

You will join like-minded motivated young people with ambition, drive and creative flair. Studying at BOA is exciting and challenging. Students come from many different backgrounds from across the whole West Midlands region. It is a diverse and vibrant environment. It is an academy designed to meet the needs of young people with aptitude in arts.

Why is BOA special?

BOA is a unique academy. It has been designed to give its students access to opportunities to aspire towards creative excellence on a day-to-day basis. BOA also has some exceptional links within education and industry. These links are part of every lesson in some way. BOA provides a highly personalised curriculum.

Do I need experience?

No. Experience helps but all you need to gain a place is aptitude.

What are the entry requirements?

 

There are no formal requirements, but to study a Level 3 course, you should demonstrate that you have undertaken study at level 2 (GCSEs or equivalent).

How many places are there?

There will be 325 places for Y12 and 150 places for Y10, both starting in September 2012.
