On Sunday 19th February, Modus Dance Company - BOA's male dance company - performed at Raw Energy: Youth Dance England's regional performance for the West Midlands.
The company performed a piece entitled Post-Apocalyptic, which explores the journey of a group of men trying to survive in a world after a pandemic disaster. During the day the company participated in workshops led by professional dance artists and had a talk from students currently studying dance at vocational dance colleges and universities. The students represented a rage of pathways including dance, musical theatre, acting and music technology.
The students gave a fantastic performance where they demonstrated the company’s physical eclectic style that resulted in a dynamically emotive performance.
The students really enjoyed the experience and gained many new skills including Hip Hop, choreography, performance and collaborative skills.
Some of the positive feedback from the performers on their experience ...
“The day has pushed me out of my comfort zone. I am not a dance student and I feel I have developed as an artist.”
“It was great to watch the work of other youth dance companies and meet like-minded new people.”
“The day made me feel good about myself. I felt warm and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
