BOA Stage and Screen is a brand-new academy opening September 2021 in Birmingham city centre. The academy will specialise in technical, production and administrative skills required for theatre, film, TV, video, on-line and new platforms. It will cater for students aged 16 to 19 who are vocationally orientated and wish to work in one of these creative industries.


BOA Stage and Screen will be the second academy in the BOA Group, with a third academy ‘BOA Digital’ opening in 2022. The Trust also has a number of other subsidiaries including the Old Repertory Theatre on Station Street.  Birmingham Ormiston Academy, our first, is one of the most successful state-funded academies in the country.  Our ambitions for BOA Stage & Screen are no lower.


We are looking for an outstanding, dynamic and inspirational leader to be the founding Principal of the new academy.   Working with the MAT CEO, Trustees and with industry partners, you will be a key player in shaping the provision and turning our exciting and ambitious vision into a reality.  An inclusive and open approach is key. 


You will have a proven track record of successful leadership and be passionate about raising aspiration and releasing the potential of young people, whatever their background.   With high emotional intelligence and exceptional interpersonal skills, you will be outward facing and strategic, but you will also need to be prepared to get involved in the detail.  The ability to work with industry partners and establish effective working partnerships across the sectors is critical to creating opportunities for our young people.
